Integrator vs GM-CTRL

A room's electronics don't have to cost as much as a car

With an integrator you pay for an escape room's electronics up front, between 6,000 and 50,000 €, most likely with a loan (and its interest). With GM-CTRL you buy the BLOCKS, install them yourself or have an electrician follow a tutorial, and pay a fee based on what you control. You save at the start, with no interest, and the final cost is far lower.

Bespoke, closed electronics with no fee. Every change to the room goes back through the integrator.

GM-CTRL · Small

You save 3,301 € · 55%
Up-front investment875 €
Total over 8 years2,699 €

5 blocks at 100 € on average + 75 € per block in wiring and components + the Small plan (228 €/year, monthly). Scale up, switch or cancel whenever you like.

Cumulative cost by yearIntegratorGM-CTRL
While you build5,125 €less up front

That is money freed up at the most delicate moment for an escape room: building it. Put it into set design, licences or opening marketing, or simply don't take out the loan.

Over 8 years3,301 €less in total cost, fee included

And when the room is due for a refit, you don't start from scratch: the blocks get reused. You take them out, rewire the new puzzles and carry on with the same plan. With an integrator, the electronics die with the room.

A rough estimate, made in good faith. Integrator: 6,000 € for a simple room (5 basic blocks) and 50,000 € for a complex one (60 blocks), interpolated linearly, with no maintenance or later changes. GM-CTRL: 100 € per block on average (BLOCKS will cost between 75 and 250 € depending on their complexity), 75 € per block in wiring, power supplies and other components, and the recommended plan's fee over 8 years. Prices excluding VAT. The real cost will depend on the blocks, sensors and actuators you use, and on whether you do the installation yourself or subcontract it.

Questions

Before you choose a plan

What is a block?

An electronic board that connects your room's sensors and actuators (magnetic sensors, buttons, RFID, LEDs, electromagnets, lights, audio…) to MASTER over your local network. Each plan sets how many blocks you can have active at once; everything else (automations, variables, screens) is unlimited in every plan.

What makes a block basic or advanced?

Basic blocks are the input and output, MP3 and RFID ones. Blocks for RGB lights, motion, video and screens are advanced and need Medium or Large.

When can I subscribe to a plan?

When BLOCKS arrive, in late 2026. If you sign up, we will write to you as soon as the plans open. Meanwhile, MASTER is free and complete.

Is the Free plan forever?

Yes: the full app with 1 basic block, no time limit and no card.

Can I change plan or cancel?

Yes, from your account; to cancel you can also email info@gmctrl.com from the address on your account. Before you confirm a change you will see when it takes effect, and if you cancel, the plan stays active until the end of the period paid for; amounts already paid are not refunded. Renewal, cancellation and refunds are in the Terms: 4. Subscribing, term and renewal, 6. Cancellation and 7. Refunds.

Does it work without internet?

The room does: console, screens and blocks talk over the local network. You need the internet to link the installation to your account and to renew each block's licence, which lasts 100 hours powered on without a connection (about 12 days in a room open 8 hours a day). If you use BOOKING, bookings also arrive over the internet; offline, “Ready” keeps working with the last list. A game in progress is never cut off.

Businesses only?

Yes. The plans are sold to businesses and professionals only, so the 14-day consumer right of withdrawal does not apply. The details are in the Terms (8. Right of withdrawal).
